Italian Bed & Breakfast Lifestyle Shoot

P h o t o s b y N a d i a M e l i

Happy Friday, everyone! I’m kicking off the weekend with a very fun styled shoot captured by Nadia Meli. I’m veering away from weddings per se at the moment here (though the tablescape is stunning and will be pinned all over my wedding boards), and showcasing an amazing lifestyle shoot featuring the precedes leading up to a dinner party.

From the stylist Jessica Gallo of Fine & FleurieNadia Meli and I are pleased to offer for your consideration a sweet little lifestyle shoot we created in Florence. Nadia and I absolutely adore Florence and we were inspired by the incredible duo behind Valdirose, a quaint and very chic B&B set in the rolling hills just outside of the city center hustle and bustle. The proprietress Irene and her husband are two of the most loving and kind people imaginable, and their home absolutely reflects their nature. The villa features a handful of utterly charming rooms and the most gorgeous glass atrium that’s filled at all hours of the day with the most creamy light. Nadia and I imagined staging a faux dinner party in the atrium and capturing the couple preparing for the event. Irene is quite a well known lady here in Italy and her cookbook “Quello Che Piace a Irene” has earned her a large following, so we were privileged to have Irene share a couple of her recipes with us, and also to have her prepare some of her favorites for us to capture.

For the aesthetics of the table we decided to keep with the casual-chic essence of the villa and set the table first with a barely-blush natural silk runner from Silk & Willow and next with clean white dishes featuring a subtle lace pattern- pieces I’d found in a handmade pottery shop near my home in Northern Italy! Mis-matched glassware and flatware with a little patina were the perfect backdrop for Sonja of Funkybird Firenze’s incredible floral arrangements. Shades of peach and palest pink paired perfectly with dinner party invitations and menus hand-painted by Yao of Yao Cheng Design.

Undoubtedly though, our favorite part of the shoot was capturing Irene and her husband Paolo in the kitchen together, rolling by hand the malfatti (delicious dumplings made from ricotta cheese and spinach) and laughing as Irene critiqued Paolo’s rolling abilities. Their warmth and love was palpable and we were grateful and happy to share in the sweet moment with them!

Soft Sunrise Beach Bridal Portraits

There’s a lot of beach wedding inspiration out there, but this shoot from JoPhoto has a few unique and noteworthy details that make it truly something special. Sunrises, for one, are an incredible time of day for a beach shoot, which is when this shoot took place on the gorgeous Isle of Palms. You’ll also need to get your pin-fingers ready for the stunning bridal jumpsuit and big, textured bouquet as well.

From the photographer…This is a sunrise bridal jumpsuit shoot that took place on the beach at Isle of Palms, just outside of Charleston. The oyster candles were made by the bride’s mother, and the bridal jumpsuit was designed by Hawaii-based Joelle Perry. Joelle said the jumpsuit design was inspired by her mother, and the fabric included velveteen roses that gradually increased in number toward the bottom of the pant. This Isle of Palms beach wedding inspiration shoot also included starfish and a basket full of seashells.

Urban Glam Wedding in Brooklyn

New York City is one of my favorite cities, and Ed from Zorz Studios has such unique imagery. So, pair the two with a couple who has serious style and we have a bunch of glamorous wedding inspiration. This wedding has an urban, industrial feel with elegant touches, such as the bride’s laced wedding gown, romantic lighting, and gorgeous white and green florals… all combined together to represent how amazing city weddings can be.

From the photographer…The bride got ready at the beautiful Wythe Hotel with amazing floor-to-ceiling windows of the Manhattan skyline, and an interior staircase leading to a private terrace. Surrounded by the toile wallpaper, and beautiful exposed beams, she was in love with the space and felt completely calm and at ease getting ready with her beautiful bridesmaids.

For the ceremony, Heather wore a gorgeous lace mermaid gown which she found at The Bridal Garden, a not-for-profit bridal boutique in New York City in which all proceeds benefit education for disadvantaged children.

The couple fell in love with The Green Building for its effortlessly beautiful interior and the vintage flair. The Green Building was previously a brass foundry and has beautiful original brick walls, exposed beam ceilings, gold chandeliers, and even a back speakeasy room equipped with vintage decor and red velvet curtains. Their vendors helped create a warm and intimate setting.

Fine Art Wedding Inspiration #3: Subtle Lavender Details

I’m sure many of you have seen numerous lavender weddings and trends around the virtual wedding world. I love shades of purple, but personally, I prefer them in doses. I’d describe my wedding aesthetic preferences to be pretty organic and neutral - so here’s my twist on lavender wedding inspiration - smaller doses, paired with lots of greenery!

Like I said, I love this color paired with greens and other neutral tones. You don’t need a ton of this beautiful shade to make a gorgeous statement. My particular favorites are the use of real lavender in details like hair, table settings, and cake. And the dustier shade in that ruffled dress is so perfect! Continue Reading

Morning Bridal Portraits

P h o t o s b y S h a p o r P h o t o

I love today’s unique feature of the morning bride getting ready for her big day. On my own wedding, I was so rushed getting ready in the morning and we were all doing last minute details - setting the tables, my dad making signs, buying shirts for the groomsmen (really!). I think it was due to all of our DIY aspects and that the wedding was at our family home. But, the business and rush of it all really makes me appreciate a shoot like this - a set of relaxed, gorgeous photos from Shapor Photo of the bride before the wedding.

The team behind this shoot wanted to show how wonderful and full of beauty the hours are before the wedding as the bride gets ready for the big day. It is a sacred time in which the bride prepares for her entry into a new life full of happiness. Pastel colors were used with lots of green garlands reflecting the essence of spring, fragility, and femininity.
