Nubivagant: Erich McVey Workshop

Happy Friday, all. I’m ending this week’s features with a gorgeous set of images from an Erich McVey workshop. Talk about tons of uber-talented vendors, from the photography of Meghan Mehan to the styling of Ginny Au and florals from Sarah Winward. These couple portraits are breathtaking and I’m sure you’ll love them too.

From the photographer…This styled session was photographed as a part of the Erich McVey Workshop in Elk, California. Styled by Ginny Au, she designed each session by drawing inspiration from a single word. For this shoot, the word was nubivagant, meaning: moving among the clouds.

Southern Winter Wedding Inspiration

P h o t o s b y N i k k i S a n t e r r e

Though spring is almost among us, we’ve still got a bit more left of this winter. I recently took a trip down to Virginia where the weather was a bit warmer but a snow blanket still covered the ground. With that said, I’ve got some southern winter wedding inspiration to share with you, all shot by Virginia based photographer, Nikki Santerre.

From the photographer…This project was a special one to collaborate on and I’m so excited to share it on behalf of one of my oldest and dearest friends. Amanda and I grew up in church together and she recently began her adventure in small business ownership specializing in wedding coordination. This shoot was inspired by winter in the south and has some really fun elements. A huge thank you to the girls that modeled and to my friends Katherine for contributing the beautiful wedding gown and to Erica for the florals!

Colorful Kate Spade Wedding Inspiration

P h o t o s b y S a r a H a s s t e d t

I’ve got a super fun styled shoot for you all today - perfect for a mid-week boost if you need one. Design powerhouse Kate Spade is known for her vibrant color palettes and motto, “live colorfully” - her designs are refreshing, flirty, and playful. This styled shoot from Sara Hasstedt is the ultimate Kate Spade wedding inspiration.

From the photographer…For this shoot, we wanted to portray a really playful and vivacious bride who was still very feminine and elegant.

I love Kate Spade‘s motto “Live Colorfully” so we played up that aspect with the florals and the bold lip color, as well as choosing a gorgeous Sarah Seven dress in gold instead of traditional white. We incorporated some non-traditional wedding elements such as a pink frosted sprinkle donut (because what is better and more playful than that?), a Kate Spade bow ring in place of a more traditional engagement ring and a pair of Kari sunglasses by Coach.

We didn’t do a full tablescape and couple’s shoot because we wanted the focus to be more on the whimsical nature of our bride and her relaxed elegance. Our driving words were feminine, feisty and whimsical. Our model is a good friend of mine, Khelsy, from college (we studied musical theatre together!) and I knew her playful personality would be a perfect fit for the bride we were wanting to portray.

Bridal Portraits From Belle Lumière Workshop

P h o t o s b y H e i d i L a u

Very happy to share some lovely bridal portraits with you today, styled beautifully by the one and only Ginny Au. These portraits were taken by Heidi Lau, Canadian photographer, at the Belle Lumière all film workshop late last summer. Have a look, the florals, styling, and photography are all so gorgeous and will serve to be a perfect mid-week inspiration.

From the photographer…Last summer I attended a film only workshop with the fine art magazine Belle Lumiere. It was daunting and liberating to not bring my digital camera with me. I had started out in film when I was first exposed to photography, I then switched over to digital when film started to phase out and digital cameras were all the rage. I still love digital photography, it definitely has it’s strengths but my true love for photography will always be film. I love the tangible process of actually making photographs and the undeniable beauty of film colours, tones and grain. The Belle Lumiere workshop allowed me to experiment with medium format and after my first shoot I was hooked.

This styled shoot was on the second day of the workshop, everything was expertly styled by the amazing Ginny Au. Her ability to style simple and authentic shoots is truly a gift. It was a dream to photograph and all the other vendors really put in all their time and talent to make this all happen. This workshop will always be dear to my hear because it reminded me of why I loved photography in the first place, being able to slow down, take it all in and remember the moments.

Statement Headpiece Wedding Inspiration

P h o t o s b y C h r i s t i e G r a h a m

I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing weekend. We’re going to kick off the week with a lovely editorial focused on statement headpieces and inspired by blackberries. From veils, to headbands, to florals, this shoot from Christie Graham is packed with bridal fashion inspiration. Let’s have a look.

From the photographer…This editorial shoot was inspired by organic, local blackberries, loose florals and textured fabrics. The model wore various headpieces - some I pulled from a local boutique, others I altered, found or made. The idea was to create unique headpieces for brides to consider. Dare to be different.

Each decor element was carefully curated to further my inspiration. The paper suite was hand-written in ink made of crushed blackberries. The cake was adorned in foraged flowers. The florals were loose, effortless. The headpieces were unique, but connected through flawless makeup and hair. All of the talented vendors involved truly brought this vision to life, and for that I am grateful.
