Fine Art Wedding Inspiration #2: Earthy Details

This particular board is one I’m a bit in love with. Earthy, natural wedding details will never go out of style. I particularly love them when they’re used in a venue that’s full of naturally gorgeous scenery. I must say, Ginny Au is one of my biggest inspirations and she really represents the natural and organic aesthetic of weddings so beautifully. So here are some of my all time favorite images that represent an ‘earthy’ wedding feel.

There are lots of ways to incorporate an ‘earthy’ look to your wedding. Wooden tables and chairs do a wonderful job at setting the structure for an earthy reception. Pair them with bits of greenery and you have a simple, but beautiful look. Texture in hair and florals give things an organic feel and they look great with free-flowing attire. A naked wedding cake doesn’t get more earthy, especially with more greens, and DIY touches like hand-dyed napkins using natural plant dyes also bring some of the earthy elements into the making of things. Luxurious Spring Wedding in Yorkshire Dales

Holly of Belle and Beau Fine Art Photography out of the U.K. can capture some seriously gorgeous images. She photographed a lovely wedding last spring at the luxury venue, The Taitlands in Yorkshire Dales National Park. Even with the rain (but hey, that’s part of the beauty of spring, right?), this couple and their loved ones shared a fabulous day filled with smiles and pretty pink details.

Miranda and Adam married on June 7, 2014. Miranda wore a Vera Wang dress and a sash embellished by Lou Lou Puchalka and matching headpiece. Their wedding was adorned in shades of pink, with florals made of roses, peonies, and hydrangeas. The ceremony was decorated with a gorgeous backdrop of arched trees adorned in pink flowers. There were also several DIY pieces from this wedding including the cake, made by the bride’s mother-in-law along with fun pink pom poms.

Black Swan Inspired Bridal Portraits

P h o t o s b y P a u l a O ‘ H a r a

Another treat from one of Paula O’Hara’s styled shoots. This one’s a little different, uniqueness at it’s best with a bit of a Black Swan twist. These photos, inspired by the artwork and grace of a ballerina, capture the dancer first in her delicacy and grace, and then follow her transformation to her darker, more mystical side. It’s all just beautiful and I love when I’m able to bring something different to the wedding blog world.

From the photographer…I’ve been hoping to photograph a ballet dancer for a while now. I’ve always enjoyed the black and white portraits that Annie Leibovitz took of Mikhail Baryshnikov, Darci Kistler and others. It’s great when you can finally put all the elements in place and just experiment with light and movement. Alise found the perfect feathery ballet style gowns from Trash Couture. When she produced the black dress, we knew we had to play on the Black Swan theme a little and have our dancer make a transformation. It was a joy to play in shadows of Gosford and to explore cinematic elements of movement and drama in a much darker way than I normally would. To step out of the comfort zone! In the words of Cate Blanchett, to not be afraid to “fail gloriously.” Thanks to the very talented team and our wonderful dancer Hannah, for bringing this to life.

Beautiful, right? Well there’s more where that came from in this intimate California winery wedding from Michele Beckwith. I am totally in love with this wedding venue and there’s some gorgeous inspiration in these photos.

And on a more ‘technical’ note, each individual image from this post (and from here on out), is pin-friendly! A small change in the blog’s features, but one that I’m very excited about. So pin away, my friends!

From the photographer…It was an intimate wedding os about 40 people at a private estate near the wineries of the central coast (soledad to be exact, an airbnb house). They are a stylish European couple who wanted a relaxed atmosphere to celebrate with their closest friends and family. Sadly Minadora’s parents and brother have passed and there were reserved seats for them at the ceremony. She was very insistant on relaxed portraits and wanted a classic style with a bit of whimsy, hence the sofa in the vineyard. Their husky Dakota was the ring bearer. Also, some important details to her was a photograph of her and her mother, a ring she gave her and a prayer book. I photographed them along with her other details.

Fine Art Wedding Inspiration #1: Spring Pastel

There’s just something that ties in springtime with pastel colors so nicely - they’re so delicate and feminine. I particularly love them paired with neutral colors, giving things a bit of a pop. Here’s a few of my favorite pastel wedding details compiled into my first inspiration board!

So those Emily Riggs bridal gowns? Yeah, I’m completely in love. The lace top paired with the colored silk tulle skirting is perfection and something any bride should seriously consider, especially the pastel lovers out there. I love the simplicity of the two white cakes that really showcase those stunningly crafted pastel cake florals. As for flowers, the options are just endless when it comes to pastels - there are so many beautiful color combinations, which all create a soft, romantic aesthetic. And don’t forget the little pastel details - like this muted aqua Mrs. Box and the pastel pink specialty drinks!
