Winter Garden Wedding in Florida

There are a lot of real weddings that speak to me one way or another - but this wedding that I’m about to share is one that I am especially honored to have grace the pages of Belles & Bubbles. Not only are the images from Diana Zapata of BlueSpark Photography absolutely stunning, and every last detail of this wedding is uber pin-worthy, but the story of the couple, Luisa and Camilo is just so real and beautiful.

Lulu and Cami got married after an international long-distance relationship (see their amazing story at the end of the post!) at Cauley Square Historic Village in Homestead Florida. Stunning florals by California Floral Design adorned this wedding with coordination by La Belle Boheme, and hair and make-up (so gorgeous, btw!) by Gloria Pelo and Luisa Franco.

From the bride…Life is a mysterious experience that never ceases to amaze me.

Camilo and I met in a difficult circumstance to start an affair, which is why I never saw a future for us. I was always focused on living in the moment, and I was sure that the relationship would not last very long, thinking it would be a beautiful experience, which would surely stay with me forever and teach me a lot, but also one that would have an end, a very close end.

When I met Camilo, I was focused on one thing: my relationship with myself. I had been single for about a year and a half and I was very happy. I didn’t want a relationship with anyone and was only interested in my personal growth and experiences. That’s the first reason why it was difficult for Camilo to get into my heart, but he was very persistent and he was always the best friend I could have ever asked for. Camilo lived in another country and I was absolutely certain I would never get involved in a long distance relationship. But at some point, my heart completely turned around and I ended up in the lover’s dilemma: do I listen to my heart or do I listen to my mind?

After a few months of getting to know each other, Camilo visited Miami, and that was when I was proposed a formal dating relationship. It absolutely took me by surprise. I wanted to wait and to handle our relationship very gently, ‘without titles’. But he didn’t rest until he got a YES from me. Not entirely convinced with my decision, I was still afraid to open up my heart to him. So much so that I never admitted to my friends that it was a ‘formal relationship’, I kept saying ‘Girls, I’m just living the moment!’. Most people would choose to give up the possibility of an affair under the conditions in which Camilo and I started our relationship, but I think everything happens for a reason and the spiritual world knows perfect timing. Even when I thought I wanted to continue enjoying myself without being in a relationship, I realized I was opening up my heart and falling in love with Camilo.

The distance, ironically, was our best teacher. It taught us to trust, it taught us to be confident in our relationship and above all things, it made us best friends. Without realizing it, living in the present, enjoying our time without knowing what was in store for us, going with the flow of the relationship, we reached a point where we could not deny the great bond that we had built, so we decided to get married and continue building a unique story, in which two best friends come together to create a family. A month later, Camilo surprised me with a monumental marriage proposal that involved a helicopter ride, all my friends and a huge sign with our relationship motto: “Let’s be awkward together”! - Yes, a marriage proposal after I ALREADY KNEW that we were getting married. I wasn’t expecting it at all but it was beautiful and perfect in every single way.

Over the next three months we planned our wedding, a very intimate ritual with every detail thought of and designed by us. It was a piece of heaven on earth and we got to share it with those whom we love the most. One unforgettable day.

Many thanks to Diana for sharing this magical wedding with us. I am delighted to be able to share this special day - Cami and Lulu are such a beautiful couple and both their story and wedding are so inspiring!
