I always love a unique twist on a common style. When we think of spring, it’s often thoughts of fresh flowers in pastel colors, sunshine, and warmth. The reality is that with spring come misty, rainy days that keep us indoors. Today’s shoot from Marie Claire Photography focuses on the moodier, darker days spring provides us. Deeper colors are used in the flowers and make-up, giving us a much different feel for spring.

From the stylist, Rachel Ellen…For this shoot I was inspired by the darker side of spring. When everything else is light and airy, I am often drawn to the darker and moodier tones. I love the sense of the dark and stormy spring days, of a rainstorm on the fresh blooms of the season. We paired dark purples and berry tones with pops of copper and grays for a moody and bohemian feel. Every detail from the mixed textures of the lounge area to the details of the intricate gown had an intimate feel rather than the typical openness of spring. The model’s makeup echoed that intimate, passionate feel while her large, organic bouquet brought in the bright colors & textures of spring.
