Russian film photographer and Collaboration Guide member Elena Pavlova always amazes me with her stunningly unique styled shoots. Today’s images were captured in a European cathedral and focus on minimalistic, raw bridal portraiture. Film photography often captures these gorgeous pastel colors that feel light, airy, and ethereal. I love how this inspiration shoot shows a moodier side, which is representative of Holland’s often overcast weather. And every now and then, you come across a photograph that looks like an oil painting, which always makes me want to say, “This is why I love film.”
From the photographer…An amazing trip to the Netherlands gave us a very atmospheric shoot of accessories for brides. We immediately rejected to use the decor and flowers because of the most beautiful place - St. Martin’s Cathedral, where the shooting was. It was so special and authentic that we did not want to switch the viewer’s attention on bouquets and flowers. We had a very difficult task - to shoot material for a couple of hours, as the weather was so unpredictable and the Netherlands is usually so rainy. As a result, we were shooting in the 10 degree heat at a very fast pace. I must say that shooting turned out such as we conceived it - in dark colors, very atmospheric, European and stylish.
