Morning Bridal Portraits

I love today’s unique feature of the morning bride getting ready for her big day. On my own wedding, I was so rushed getting ready in the morning and we were all doing last minute details - setting the tables, my dad making signs, buying shirts for the groomsmen (really!). I think it was due to all of our DIY aspects and that the wedding was at our family home. But, the business and rush of it all really makes me appreciate a shoot like this - a set of relaxed, gorgeous photos from Shapor Photo of the bride before the wedding.

The team behind this shoot wanted to show how wonderful and full of beauty the hours are before the wedding as the bride gets ready for the big day. It is a sacred time in which the bride prepares for her entry into a new life full of happiness. Pastel colors were used with lots of green garlands reflecting the essence of spring, fragility, and femininity.

Black Swan Inspired Bridal Portraits

Another treat from one of Paula O’Hara’s styled shoots. This one’s a little different, uniqueness at it’s best with a bit of a Black Swan twist. These photos, inspired by the artwork and grace of a ballerina, capture the dancer first in her delicacy and grace, and then follow her transformation to her darker, more mystical side. It’s all just beautiful and I love when I’m able to bring something different to the wedding blog world.

From the photographer…I’ve been hoping to photograph a ballet dancer for a while now. I’ve always enjoyed the black and white portraits that Annie Leibovitz took of Mikhail Baryshnikov, Darci Kistler and others. It’s great when you can finally put all the elements in place and just experiment with light and movement. Alise found the perfect feathery ballet style gowns from Trash Couture. When she produced the black dress, we knew we had to play on the Black Swan theme a little and have our dancer make a transformation. It was a joy to play in shadows of Gosford and to explore cinematic elements of movement and drama in a much darker way than I normally would. To step out of the comfort zone! In the words of Cate Blanchett, to not be afraid to “fail gloriously.” Thanks to the very talented team and our wonderful dancer Hannah, for bringing this to life.

So many talented vendors got together to produce the lovely shoot I’m about to share with you. This one is a true stunner to be remembered and I am honored to have it grace the blog today. All the details and styling inspired by the gossypium plant are perfectly elegant and timeless, and captured so wonderfully by Matoli Keely at the The Little Workshop.

From the photographer…The Lewis Dream Home with cotton fields for miles, was the perfect location for this cotton influence with Michael and Carina Photography, this shoot combined natural, ethereal beauty and effortlessly brought them to life. The model Stephanie Knight was styled in dresses by Gossamer, with delicately soft and beautiful hair and makeup by Lora Kelley. White Magnolia Designs designed florals and a gorgeous tablescape accented by ribbon from Silk & Willow. Lastly, Written Word Calligraphy tied all the elements together with elegant and timeless calligraphy.”

Tropical Hawaiian Bridal Session

Happy Friday, all! To kick off a relaxing weekend, I thought I’d share some fun photos of a tropical Hawaiian bridal session from Janna Warm. It’s certainly got me dreaming of waters, summer florals, and exotic places!

From the photographer…Amazing nature of Hawaiian Islands, tropical flowers, dramatic cliffs, rocks and crushing waves were our inspiration for this bridal styled photo shoot. The islands are scattered in the ocean as the beautiful flowers in the water. There is never a calm ocean. We found the hidden pool with the waves on the background. The model was able to convey the excitement beauty of the island tropical bride. The breathtaking, natural beauty. Hawaiian Islands are made for the romance photo shoot and exotic getaways.

Shades of Lavender Wedding Inspiration

P h o t o s b y L u i z a S m i r n o v a

Hi everyone! The styled shoot I’m about to show you has such a beautiful gown in the loveliest shade of lavender. Oh, and there’s also an amazing bouquet of flowers, a quaint little cake, and some pretty remarkable architecture. Throw that all together and we’ve got a lot to swoon over in this shades of lavender wedding inspiration from Russian photographer Luiza Smirnova.

From the photographer…Noble shades of the violet and lilac are very close to our models, we chose this color not incidentally. The place fascinated us by the architecture. In the early spring when snow only descended, we got out on the street to make it. Thanks to all vendors for their work.
