Every now and again, I get to showcase an editorial that executes the styling and details to near perfection. Today’s New Zealand mountain wedding inspiration captured by We Are Origami during the Forage & Fern workshop hosted by Magnolia Rouge and Jen Huang is one that you just simply wouldn’t change a single thing about. I’m such a mountain girl too, so the backdrop has me completely ready to jet off to New Zealand to play in those mountains. So let’s just allow ourselves some swoon-time to enjoy these photos that look like paintings and the amazing details like the Gossamer dress, styled tablescape by Kylie Swanson and Type A Society, Leaf & Honey florals, and Written Word Calligraphy paper goods.
From the photographer…Last year, we had the honour of joining a bunch of super talented folks from around the world for an extraordinary workshop held in Queenstown, New Zealand focused on fine art photography and shooting film. Magnolia Rouge co-hosted the workshop together with Jen Huang, and joined by talented stylist Kylie Swanson and Type A Society, florist Leaf & Honey and a host of others who so kindly contributed their time and talents.
The Forage & Fern Workshop was all about discovery. It was our first time dabbling into shooting ‘only’ film. Since then, we have fallen in love with this beautiful format and the idea behind fine art photography. The colour, the texture, the depth, the styling…just everything about fine art photography combined with shooting film reminds us why we love photography so much. It slows us down. It makes us think. The result is simply divine. We left the workshop feeling we had a truly valuable learning experience and it certainly helped us found our individual voice as an artist. Not only have we walked away from this experience truly inspired by the natural beauty of Queenstown, but we have built some beautiful and long lasting connections with new friends from around the world.
